Aston Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor makes superb Celtic claim
Celtic played host to a number of famous faces last weekend as they got themselves a comfortable 3-0 win over the Rangers. The result means that the Hoops have only lost once against their Glasgow rivals over the past twelve meetings between the two. The presence of 2-time Oscar winner, Christoph Waltz, at Parkhead made the headlines. Aston Villa legend, Gabriel Agbonlahor, was also in attendance.
Agbonlahor came through the youth ranks at Aston Villa. He also spent his entire career at the club, except for a couple of brief loan spells early.
Overall, Agbonlahor made 391 appearances for Aston Villa over the course of his career. He also represented the England national team on a few occasions.
Of course, having played so long for Aston Villa, Agbonlahor will know a thing or two about derbies. He certainly seems to have been impressed with what he saw from Celtic against the Rangers at the weekend. As reported by Glasgow World, he said on talkSPORT:
"I am not one to go into someone, but I played in a lot of derby games and if I am a Rangers fans I am probably looking at it like 'they may be better than you, but put a tackle in. At least kick someone.'
"It was that one-sided and the feeling in the stadium from the Celtic fans was like 'why haven't we scored yet?' after 10 minutes. The goal gets disallowed allowed and it was 'don't worry we will score again soon'. It had that feeling that 'we are going to beat these comfortably'. That must be hard to take for any Rangers fans."

There certainly is a gap between Celtic and the Rangers right now. The Hoops have won three straight league titles and twelve since the 2011-12 season.
If anything, that gap only seems to be increasing at the moment. The only person who did not think last weekend's game was one-sided is probably Rangers boss, Philippe Clement, who brought up stats like shots on target and possession after the match. Truth be told, Celtic probably should have scored a couple more on the day.
It is far too early in the season for Celtic to get comfortable. Anything can happen in football. They need to keep on performing one week after another. But if things go according to expectations, the Hoops should be lifting their fourth straight league title come May.
