Celtic earned a lot of plaudits for the additions that they made to their squad during the time of Ange Postecoglou as manager. It is not hard to understand why. Within a short period of time, the Hoops signed players like Kyogo, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, Matt O'Riley, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josip Juranovic, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Liel Abada and more. Their brilliant recruitment was one of the key reasons behind their success over those two seasons.

That does not mean that Celtic were absolutely perfect with their recruitment during Postecoglou's time as manager. On the contrary, their transfer activity in the 2022/23 campaign was disappointing and just a sign of things to come.

One of the signings they made in the summer of 2022 was bringing in Alexandro Bernabei from Lanus for a transfer fee believed to be around £3.75 million. In the process, he became Celtic's first-ever Argentine player.

It has not really been a first to remember though. Bernabei has struggled during his time at Celtic Park and appears to be on his way out already.

A Parkhead exit seems to be on the cards. As reported by the Daily Record, reports in South America state that Bernabei is already in Brazil to iron out the final details of a temporary switch to SC Internacional.

Bernabei's time at Celtic has been largely forgettable so far. And the fact that he might be going on loan to a Brazilian club instead of staying in Europe does seem to suggest that the Hoops might not have long-term plans in place for him.

Is it a wise decision to let Bernabei leave on loan at the moment though? Celtic did not sign a left-back in the winter, meaning they are light on options in that area of the pitch.
