Ange Postecoglou earned a lot of plaudits during his time as Celtic manager for the signings that the club made. A lot of them proved to be key players as the Hoops went on to win five domestic trophies out of a possible six over the Australian's two years in the Parkhead hot seat. Thus, it would be safe to say that all the praise was well-earned.

At the same time though, that does not mean that every signing Celtic made during Postecoglou's time as manager was a success. On the contrary, the 2022/23 campaign can be considered a failure in terms of transfers.

Aaron Mooy and Alistair Johnston were the only two signings made during that season who ended up having a positive impact on the team. One player who still has not quite established himself at Parkhead is Oh Hyeon-gyu.

Oh was brought in as the replacement for Giorgos Giakoumakis. While the Greek striker left Parkhead and is starring for Atlanta United, the South Korean international's form for Celtic can be considered shaky at best.

Celtic did add to their ranks up top in the January transfer window, signing Adam Idah on loan from Norwich City. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Mark Wilson said on Superscoreboard:

"He’s now got a target man that you can put up there that’s, I think, a better bet than [Hyeongyu] Oh.

“I think even when Oh came on in Sunday he just looks short."

Idah still has a lot to prove at Celtic. He did score a couple of goals against Hibernian but both of them came from the spot. That being said, you still have to convert those penalties. The Hoops have learned that the hard way this season.

It is quite clear that Rodgers rates Idah highly considering the fact that he is already starting games. That might not be good news for Oh and his prospects of game time in the second half of the season.
