AC Milan join race to sign rising Celtic player
Celtic have struggled in recent years when it comes to bringing through their academy standouts into the senior team setup. On one hand, it is somewhat understandable considering the pressure on the club's manager to win almost every game. But on the other hand, the lack of opportunities for some players has been confusing to say the least.
One of the best talents at Celtic right now is Rocco Vata. He has been fantastic at the B Team level for the club but that has not opened up more opportunities for him in the senior side.
Vata has only gotten two chances to play this season, both as a substitute. And he has actually scored once, against Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup. The lack of opportunities for the youngster has been worrying, especially because his contract runs out in the summer.
It is not only at Celtic B level that Vata is impressing but for the Republic of Ireland U21s as well. He recently scored a hattrick for them against San Marino U21s. That makes it five goals for him in just two appearances at that level.

As reported by the Daily Record, AC Milan led a string of top Italian clubs who watched Vata score his hattrick. Scouts from Bologna and Atalanta were present as well.
Celtic are believed to be interested in handing a contract extension to Vata but honestly, there is very little reason for him to continue at Parkhead. He is not simply getting the opportunities. One could argue that he would be afforded more chances at any of those three Italian clubs.
Of course, nothing is set in stone yet. But it would come as a major surprise if Vata chose to extend his Celtic deal rather than leave as a free agent.
