Aberdeen manager makes bold claim before facing Celtic
Something special seems to be brewing in Aberdeen. They sit level on points with Celtic, and five ahead of the Rangers, after seven league games. Not only that, they have also won all of their matches so far this season. So, technically, they have a better record than Brendan Rodgers' side, who lost 7-1 against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Both teams left it late at the weekend. Nicolas Kuhn scored in the 88th minute to seal a 2-1 comeback win for Celtic away in Dingwall against Ross County.
On the other hand, Aberdeen also scored the winning goal in the 88th minute, against Hearts, to maintain their perfect start to the season. That sets up a blockbuster game after the international break when the two will meet at Parkhead.
Of course, nobody expects Aberdeen to continue in this manner for the entire season. But as Leicester City fans will tell you, miracles can happen. Their Celtic Park visit will show what the Dons are truly made of though.
Aberdeen manager makes bold claim before facing Celtic
Thelin does not seem to be looking to change things up heading into the Celtic game. As reported by the Daily Record, the Aberdeen manager said:
"Celtic are good, but we have to prepare ourselves and we usually respect every opponent and of course you see how they play at home and these kinds of things. But we have to prepare ourselves and try to have a really good performance and get a good result. So we don’t change our preparations or the way we work and then we’re going to reload and prepare for that game."
Since arriving in the summer from IF Elfsborg, everything Thelin has done as Aberdeen manager has worked out perfectly for the Dons. It would be an understatement to say that he has exceeded all expectations.
Now comes the big test. Of course, Celtic cannot afford to take this Aberdeen team lightly either. They are on top form and coming into Parkhead riding a wave of momentum. On the other hand, Rodgers' side have looked off the pace in the last few games. Hopefully, they will come back refreshed after the international break and look back to their best.
