Celtic's current backup goalkeepers

The squad position behind Hart is fairly stable, even if not inspiring. It hasn't changed much since the Englishman joined three seasons ago. Nor have the backup goalkeepers been called upon often.

Scott Bain

It was Scott Bain who made a rare step back into the first-team again when Hart was sent off against Livingston and then suspended for the next match against Motherwell. He also replaced the Englishman in the final minutes against St Mirren last weekend as 'Super Joe' said farewell to the fans.

Bain has a contract until the summer of 2026. But he may no longer even be the cover option if two new goalkeepers are signed by the club this summer.

Benjamin Siegrist

Benjamin Siegrist also has a contract with Celtic until the summer of 2026. Yet he seems distant from actually getting a game or even challenging Bain for the seat on the substitutes bench.

Siegrist has only made two competitive appearances for the Hoops since joining the club in 2022. It would be no surprise to see him make a move away this summer, either permanently or on loan.

Tobi Oluwayemi

Although not in the current squad, Tobi Oluwayemi was signed from Tottenham Hotspur and seen as someone with long-term potential. His recent loan spell at Admira Wacker was disrupted by injury but he did keep an impressive 5 clean sheets in 9 appearances for them.

He is just 21 years old with a bright future ahead of him. Hopefully, it is at Celtic, although he might need to spend further time out on loan to continue his development.
