Celtic had handed the Rangers a chance to get back in the title race after they let slip of a two-goal lead against Aberdeen and drew 2-2 at Parkhead. That meant that if Philippe Clement's side won at the weekend, they would be just three points behind the Hoops. Considering how their season has gone so far, that would have to be viewed as a decent position.

Once again, the Rangers failed to deliver in a high-pressure situation though. They lost 1-0 away against Kilmarnock.

The result means that they are now six points behind both Celtic and Aberdeen. Naturally, questions are being raised about Philippe Clement's future at the club.

Rangers fans are clearly not happy with how things are being run at the moment. In the game against Kilmarnock, the Ibrox club's supporters held up a banner that read: “The mismanagement of Rangers must stop and stop now.”

Clement commented on the Rangers fans' unhappiness after the game. As reported by The Guardian, the Belgian manager said:

"It’s normal that they’re unhappy. There’s not one person on the staff or one player who was happy after this game, after losing. So that’s normal. The players showed respect towards the fans, the fans showed what they felt about the results, and that’s normal.

“So it’s about getting back the results, that’s the main thing, and then the fans get behind you. I think the anger has to do with a lot of things. So I will be focused on the sporting side to get the best out of this squad.

“We’re going to work really hard with this squad, and there is a lot of potential in this squad. Much more potential than people see maybe for the moment. So it’s about working hard with them and making them better."

Clement certainly has a lot to prove over the coming games. Otherwise, it might not be long before he is shown the Ibrox exit door, even though he was handed a long-term contract extension not too long ago, another confusing decision on the part of the Rangers.

Celtic cannot afford to look at how things are going on at Ibrox right now though, because they have plenty of worries of their own. The performances in recent games have not been anywhere near good enough.

They need to get better but have looked shaky in the absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers at the back. Under these circumstances, an away trip to Atalanta in the Champions League is not ideal by any means.
