Celtic legend Peter Grant has been speaking about Martin O'Neill's striker options and which of them is the best option.
O'Neill has a tough choice to make between Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh, with both having arrived in the summer and both playing the same position in a system that only accommodates one striker.
Hogh is a classic hold-up striker who can bring players into play, but he is not a clinical finisher, and he has shown that with his struggled in front of goals since arriving, with the exception being the Kilmarnock game that saw him score a hat-trick, but they are the only goals he has scored.
Duran, meanwhile, has often been asked to play out wide, but he has played his best football centrally, finding the net three times in the league. He is much more agile, can stretch defences and is a clinical finisher, often popping up in the right spots in and around the box.
It's not an easy choice, especially with O'Neill having to factor in what works best within his system.
But Grant believes Duran is the best choice for O'Neill. He told the Go Radio Football Show: "I know he wants to be the number [nine] and I think he is Celtic’s best number nine. That is me personally because he gives you a mixture. He can run, he can come short, he has got good movement as a striker.
“Hogh is great off crosses. His link-up play is not as good as it should be and he is good in the air, but the crosses have got to come in for him.
“He is a completely different striker. You can’t slide him through because he can’t run away, as I say. So, it is slightly different. He is different.”
For the most part, O'Neill has put Hogh in the centre-forward position and put Duran out wide when both are fit, but Duran has started the last couple centrally. That hasn't worked, though, with just about everyone on the pitch delivering poor performances.
