One thing is pretty clear, Brendan Rodgers recognises the situation that Celtic find themselves in right now. The Northern Irishman has managed the club for long enough. On top of that, it is no secret that he is a supporter for the Hoops as well. So, all things considering, he will know that the pressure is on and he needs to deliver.
Celtic have been terrible at the start of this season. There are no two ways about it. They have won just seven of their fourteen games so far.
That is nowhere near good enough for a club like Celtic, that is expected to win pretty much every time they get on the pitch. So, the room for improvement is clearly there. What is not clear though is how things will get better for them.
This squad simply does not seem to be good enough at the moment. And on top of that, it looks like Rodgers has lost a lot of the magic that he showcased during his first spell at Parkhead. So, this is not the ideal situation for the Hoops to be in.
'Or else it's over' - Brendan Rodgers sends clear Celtic message
Rodgers seems to be pretty defiant about the entire situation though and has sent a clear message about the need to get through this. As reported by The Celtic Way, the manager said:
"It's not all about winning trebles and doubles. You have to stand up and fight, or else it's over. That's not what we want.
“We're a club that's a huge institution. We've got a remarkable history, and I'm very privileged to manage it in this tough moment. It is tough, absolutely. I need to stand up and really lead and see where we can improve."
Well, it remains to be seen if this Celtic team has the character to do just that. Or else, it might very well be over for real.
Rodgers' current contract is set to expire at the end of this campaign. The expectation has been that he will leave at the end of it. That being said, he might very well have to be shown the exit door if things don't improve quickly for his team.
