It is nothing new for things to move at a glacial pace when it comes to Celtic. And that has been the case this season as well. The club were not able to get things done in the summer transfer window, which is one of the key reasons why they found themselves in so much trouble over the first few months of the campaign and ultimately led to Brendan Rodgers' resignation.
Martin O'Neill and Shaun Maloney were brought in to take interim charge of the team. To be fair to them, they have exceeded most expectations and have gotten the Hoops back to a pretty good situation.
Now, though, it looks like O'Neill is set to move on. On the other hand, there is some uncertainty whether Maloney will continue in a coaching role or not. But a new permanent managerial appointment is now only a matter of time.
Celtic are set to take on Dundee in what will be O'Neill's final game with the Hoops and possibly as a manager. Then, all eyes will be on Wilfried Nancy, as more details have emerged about when and where he will arrive.
'Official announcement' - Fabrizio Romano drops Celtic news
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Nancy has arrived in London now, having been authorised to travel by the Columbus Crew to become the new Celtic head coach. He will be in Glasgow on Thursday for his first training session with the Hoops. The official announcement is set to follow.
Nancy has done a tremendous job in the MLS. But it remains to be seen whether he is capable of delivering in the Scottish Premiership.
Of course, many fans are not convinced by the decision to part ways with O'Neill before such a vital series of games. Nancy's debut will be against Hearts before taking on AS Roma in the Europa League, and then the Scottish League Cup final against St Mirren.
