Celtic are looking to sign a striker this summer and have been backed to bring back Kyogo, whose stint at Rennes has proven to be a nightmare and could be over sooner than anybody would have expected. But there is another former player who could be looking for a change of scenery over the coming months and that opens up a window of opportunity for the Hoops, if they do choose to seek a reunion.
Of course, we are talking about none other than Odsonne Edouard. The Frenchman was phenomenal over his four years at Celtic before leaving for Crystal Palace in the summer of 2021.
Unfortunately for Edouard, his move to Crystal Palace can only be defined as a 'flop'. It has not worked out at all.
He spent the previous campaign out on loan at Leicester City but that did not work out either. He spent most of the time out of the matchday squad at a club that got relegated.
Odsonne Edouard tipped for Celtic return but there's one problem
As reported by the Daily Record, when asked if Edouard should be on Celtic's radar this summer, Scott Allan told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard:
"I would, yeah. Fantastic player. It's obviously a position that Celtic will be looking to add to."
For any move to Celtic to take place, there is one issue that would need to be sorted first. That is Edouard's salary, which is expected to be a lot higher than anything the Hoops would want to pay him after four poor seasons down in England.
Another issue is the fact that those leaving the Premier League these days do have a chance to make similar, if not even more money, by joining one of the Saudi Pro League teams. So, there is very little incentive for them to return to Celtic, other than footballing reasons. Let's see what the future holds for Edouard.
