Over the years, Celtic have had a hard time preventing their players from leaving for England. It is not hard to understand why people want to head down south. The Premier League is the best and most popular domestic competition in world football, there is no doubt about that. And most aim to reach that level.
So, when the opportunity presents itself, most leave. For some, that chance comes after proving themselves at Celtic, like Matt O'Riley, Odsonne Edouard and others. On the other hand, there are those who get the call early on in their careers, without having done much or anything in the senior game.
Ben Doak is a perfect example of that. He left for Liverpool very early in his career. And even though it did not work out for him at Anfield, he was able to boost his reputation to the point that he is on the verge of a £25 million transfer this summer. Not bad for someone with just 10 appearances for the Reds to his name.
Now, it looks like another Celtic player could be headed to a Premier League club. And he has not even made his debut for the Hoops yet.
Nottingham Forest in advanced talks to sign Celtic player
As reported by Football Insider, Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign Dara Jikiemi. The Premier League club are closing in on a deal to sign the Celtic defender.
Jikiemi is still just 15 years of age. But the defender is very highly rated at Celtic and he has also captained Scotland at U15 level.
So, there is no doubt that he is considered a top talent. There is a reason that Nottingham Forest have come calling already. And it looks like a move to the Premier League club is getting closer.
