One of the best signings that Celtic have made in recent times is Nicolas Kuhn. The German winger was brought in from Rapid Vienna for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £3 million. He had spent time in the youth ranks of Bayern Munich, Ajax and RB Leipzig but did not make it to the senior level at any of those clubs. So, expectations were not set very high.
Kuhn exceeded all the expectations though. After a steady half season at Celtic, he came into his own in the 24/25 campaign.
At times, he carried the team on his back and was pretty much unplayable in the first half of the 24/25 campaign. Not only did he score and assist for fun but he got goals on the big occasions as well. He scored against RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich in the Champions League and the Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final win at Hampden Park.
Naturally, that kind of form caught the attention of clubs around Europe. And now, it appears that Kuhn is closing in on an exit if rumours are accurate.
Nicolas Kuhn in advanced talks to leave Celtic this summer
It looks like Kuhn is closing in on a return to RB Leipzig. As reported by Kicker (via CeltsAreHere), talks are already at ‘an advanced stage' and the German club are keen to get a deal done soon.
Of course, one has to point out that these are contrary to some other reports that have been doing the rounds in Germany. They have suggested that RB Leipzig are not moving forward with transfers before they have their new manager in place.
So, let's see how things turn out in this transfer saga over the coming days and weeks. One thing is clear though. Kuhn seems to be heading for the exit door.
