Celtic scripted a famous night under the Parkhead lights when they defeated RB Leipzig by a 3-1 scoreline. Nicolas Kuhn scored a brace, a wonderful first and a fox in the box second, while Reo Hatate's brilliant performance was rewarded with a goal as well. We have seen the Hoops get big results in their own backyard before. But rarely have we witnessed them get this comfortable a victory at this level.

We have also seen quite a few meteoric rises at Celtic in recent years. But Nicolas Kuhn might very well be the fastest.

He was signed in January from Rapid Vienna for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £3 million. Most viewed him as another 'project' signing and a mediocre start to life at Parkhead saw James Forrest move ahead of him in the pecking order towards the end of last season.

It would be an understatement to say that things have changed since then. Kuhn has established himself as Celtic's talisman this season and his two goals against RB Leipzig were just a sign of his growing reputation both domestically and in Europe. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 9 goals and provided 10 assists in 16 appearances in the 24/25 campaign so far.

Micah Richards was clearly impressed with Kuhn. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Richards said on CBS Sports on Paramount+:

"We have got a Va Va Voom in the studio (Thierry Henry). But tonight it was Va Va Kuhn.

“Two Champions League goals. Brilliant night for him."

Of course, it might have been a tongue-in-cheek joke on the part of Richards, but Kuhn is certainly starting to establish himself as the main man for Celtic. Let's see how he performs in the remaining four Champions League games for the Hoops, and hopefully there are more to come.

Unsurprisingly, he is already been linked with an exit as well. Premier League clubs are rumoured to be interested in Kuhn by now.
