Kyogo Furuhashi was a superstar in Celtic colours from the moment he arrived until his departure in the winter. The decision to leave Parkhead to join French Ligue 1 club Rennes has turned out to be a mistake though. He was struggling to even make their bench before the end of the season and now, an exit seems likely this summer.

Kyogo has been linked with quite a few Premier League clubs recently. The likes of Brentford and Bournemouth are believed to be available in the Celtic hero.

But a return to Celtic is not off the table either. It is worth remembering that the club did not end up replacing him in the winter. Could he turn out to be his own replacement?

As reported by Transferfeed (via Foot-sur7), Kyogo could return to Scotland at Celtic. His former club is ready to repatriate him. The forward is also keen to return to Parkhead.

It remains to be seen how things turn out for Kyogo. Of course, one cannot forget that he still has a long-term contract at Rennes. So, whoever wants to sign him will have to agree a fee with them first.

Bringing back Kyogo has its pros for sure. He is proven at Celtic and used to Brendan Rodgers' system, even though he never produced his best football under the manager.

On the other hand, this simply does not fit the transfer policy that the Hoops have followed for so many years. Rarely do they pay a transfer fee to sign a player who is 30 years of age. Will they make an exception for a club hero like Kyogo? We will find out soon. Let's just wait and see how things unfold over the coming weeks and months.
