Martin O'Neill has been speaking about the competition he has in his front line at Celtic. The Bhoys currently have four strikers to choose between for one central spot, which means strikers have regularly been playing in the wide positions.
Camilo Durán has regularly found himself shoehorned in on the right despite clearly being the best centre-forward at the club, while Callum Osmand looks to have found himself a home on the left.
Kasper Hogh has more often than not been given the starting role in the middle, but he has struggled for form for months at this stage, remaining goalless since his second game of the season, when he scored a hat-trick.
O'Neill also has Shim Mheuka, the young Chelsea loanee, to offer game time throughout the season.
With Hogh struggling for form, there have been calls aplenty for Durán to start centrally, but O'Neill isn't overthinking it due to the length of the season and time he has to offer out.
"Over time we've got a lot of matches and it's one of those things," said the Bhoys boss. "Kasper started on Sunday and nearly got himself a goal.
"I think we've talked about this over the last couple of weeks. Just confidence and it will come. And then hopefully there are a flurry of goals after that. It's easier said than done, of course, but I think that's the case.
"But for me, it is a matter. I've got a young centre-forward who's on loan from Chelsea. He's definitely shown signs of being able to break through and come in. So I've got a bit of a problem on my hands."
O'Neill must simply the striker battle
Every fan can see how much Hogh is struggling currently. He can't buy a goal, and he is not offering the hold-up play he should be in order to offer sufficient value.
He needs to be dropped to the bench for at least a few games, especially when Durán is finding the net at will. Putting an in-form player out of position is failing to get the best out of players, and that makes no sense when it comes solely to get what looks to be an overpriced and out of form player into the team.
If Celtic are an ambitious club, they should have competition for places that is based solely on merit, and Hogh should get no special treatment because of the price he arrived for.
