Celtic boss Martin O'Neill has issued an injury update ahead of Thursday night's Europa League clash with Benfica in Lisbon.

The Bhoys face a tough test in Lisbon, with Benfica one of the favourites to win the competition, and O'Neill's men are off to a disappointing start in the competition. Celtic lost at home to Ferencvaros in their opening game in the competition, and they will only have six games to rack up at least nine, if not 10, points after this game if they want to progress in the competition.

This will be the toughest test Celtic face in this competition during the league phase, so a result is always going to be difficult to achieve here. But O'Neill is going to want to see his side play with an intensity they have lacked in big games this season.

Ahead of the game, Celtic knew they would more than likely be without Cameron Carter-Vickers, who missed the weekend's clash with Motherwell due to a muscular strain, and Camilo Durán was a surprise absentee from the Hoops' final training session in Scotland before travelling on Wednesday.

But O'Neill has now confirmed that there is no injury at play, with Durán's partner expecting to give birth on Wednesday, meaning a travel delay for the forward.

"Cameron has a bit of a strain so he's missing but Camilo is hoping to be out here later on," O'Neill said.

"They were due at some stage this afternoon and if all goes well he'll come out here later."

That will be a relief for Celtic, with Durán vital to their attacking efforts. The Colombian is clearly the team's most in-form attacker this season, and he scored on Sunday to get back to form after a frustrating run before the break.

Speaking about the game before that injury update, O'Neill said: "First of all, looking forward to the game, it's a big match for us and lovely to be involved," O'Neill said.

"Secondly, the history of the football club and the connection to Lisbon, it's terrific, something the football club should be really proud of. I think it's a separate entity in many aspects.

"By next year it'll be 60 years, a historical occasion, absolutely fantastic. A lot of the boys have seen the stadium from a trip there last season and are aware of the history.

"It's really lovely, I must admit. It's something to look forward to and just the whole history of it, it should have a galvanizing effect on us."
