Marcelo Saracchi is close to making a permanent move to Celtic, however, there is one point of contention that needs to be sorted before the deal can get over the line.
The left-back has been brilliant since joining the Hoops on loan. He has been a brilliant backup to Kieran Tierney, impressing in his own right, and the Glasgow side wants him to make the move permanently. He is keen on it as well; however, there are rumours that the deal will not go any further until a decision has been made on the next permanent manager.
After Martin O'Neill's latest comments on the squad rebuild, some fans believe that he could be staying on for another campaign, but with Jens Berthel Askou and Robbie Keane still on the cards, nothing has been decided yet.
However, it isn't just the manager issue that needs to be sorted out, as Saracchi is keen on playing more minutes. He does want to move to Celtic, but he wants more football than he has been getting. That could put the deal in jeopardy, with Tierney still being the first choice in his position.
There has been a debate recently over who should start in certain fixtures, but O'Neill seems set in his ways. He clearly thinks Tierney gives Celtic what they need each game, and he isn't wrong.
Saracchi's future is yet to be decided, but Celtic would be silly not to sign him
After his performances this season, it would be silly not to sign Saracchi permanently. He is absolutely class, and the manager should make an effort to rotate him in depending on the fixture.
Hopefully, the next manager will be decided sooner rather than later. The season is coming to a close, and that should be one of the first things done. Of course, there is a lot of work to be done in the transfer market as well, but there is no point in bringing in new players without a head coach. The last thing we want is a repeat of the last summer window, where many squad members were brought in who Brendan Rodgers clearly didn't fancy.
We need a good style of football at Celtic. One that can give us good performances, and most importantly, the right results. If the Hoops can win the Scottish Premiership title again, that makes them an attractive option to any gaffer looking to take the club far. We surely won't be starved for options, so let's hope that the board picks the next manager well.
