It is not often that what Manchester United does ends up having an effect on Celtic. This summer could turn out to be one of those rare occasions though. The Premier League giants are coming off one of the worst campaigns in the club's history. Judging by their transfer activity, it is clear that the club are ready to back Ruben Amorim. But he won't get too much time, if the performances don't improve.
Of course, Manchester United look eager to add to their squad this summer. At the same time, it is equally important to part ways with players in order to make room for fresh arrivals.
Recently, Manchester United announced the release of quite a few of their players. That includes Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof, three veterans who will be departing as their contracts come to an end.
This does open up a window of opportunity for Celtic. One cannot forget that they have been linked with both Eriksen and Evans in recent months, while Lindelof could be an option worth considering, as the Hoops do need to strengthen in the heart of defence.
Manchester United make announcement Celtic fans will love
Eriksen has had an up-and-down time since joining Manchester United. The quality is not in question though and he could be an excellent veteran addition to this Celtic side, similar to Aaron Mooy and Kasper Schmeichel.
On the other hand, Brendan Rodgers has a long history with Evans from their time together at Leicester City. Could a reunion be on the cards? We will find out soon.
Lindelof's career at Manchester United has been longer than most realise. He had been with the club since 2017 and made 284 appearances. As a free agent, he could be an excellent pick for Celtic to strengthen their backline.
