Celtic will feel like they lost coming out of the game against Aberdeen. The Hoops were in cruise control of the match, having gone 2-0 up thanks to goals from Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi. And if they had been better with their finishing, it could have been more. The contest completed turned on its head after the break though.

Celtic have always looked shaky at the back when Cameron Carter-Vickers has been absent. That happened once again.

Aberdeen scored two quick goals to make it 2-2 and found the back of the net for a third time although that was ruled out for offside. At the end of the day, the draw was probably a fair result based on how the game went but one that Celtic could have easily avoided.

One person who must have been delighted to see the Aberdeen comeback is Sir Alex Ferguson. And he was present at Celtic Park to see it happen in person.

Ferguson has a storied history with Aberdeen. While he made his name with Manchester United, he also won 11 trophies as the manager of the Dons, including silveware at the European level.

It goes without saying that Aberdeen have not enjoyed that level of success since his departure. Also, Ferguson turned out for the Rangers during his playing days.

Of course, those are well-known facts. One that many might not know though is that Dermot Desmond had actually tried to hire Ferguson as manager of Celtic around 1997. It is believed that he was ready to pay twice the salary the Scot was receiving as Manchester United boss. Ultimately, it did not end up materialising though.

Ferguson would stay on at Manchester United for 16 more years, winning countless trophies in England and a couple of Champions League titles as well. One can only wonder what would have happened if he did end up at Celtic in 1997.
