Nicolas Kuhn has been Celtic's best player this season by far. With Matt O'Riley leaving in the summer to join Brighton & Hove Albion, the club needed a talisman and the German winger has taken up that mantle. One could argue that he has taken things a step further and his consistency and impact in the ongoing campaign have been remarkable to say the very least.
Kuhn has been putting up the numbers, both in terms of goals and assists. And naturally, that kind of form has seen him be linked with a move away from Celtic.
Clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and more have been linked with an interest in Kuhn in recent weeks. On the other hand, it looks like Celtic are coming up with a plan to keep him at Parkhead for as long as possible.
As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are planning talks over an improved deal for Kuhn. He is on a fraction of the club's top earners and the Hoops are set to reward the German winger by opening discussions over a new deal in the coming weeks.
Major news drops on Nicolas Kuhn's Celtic future
It was just last January that Kuhn arrived at Celtic. And to be honest, his first few months with the club were nothing special.
Most people must have written him off as another Celtic project signing bound to not work out. There have been several such instances in recent years. But Kuhn has taken his game up a few levels since the start of this season.
Right now, Kuhn has to be the first name on Celtic's team list and the club should not entertain the idea of him leaving in the middle of the season, with so much still to play for. It would absolutely be the right decision to hand him an improved deal. He has earned it.
