Celtic are looking to sign another striker. At least that is what most outlets suggest. For a long time, it was believed that Mathias Kvistgaarden was their top target in that regard but it is quite clear that they have drtopped out of that race by now, with RC Lens and Norwich City the two favourites to sign the Danish forward.
On the other hand, it looks like Celtic might have their eye on the free agent market. One of the players that they have been loosely linked with for a while is Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Calvert-Lewin is available as a free agent this summer as his contract at Everton has run out. And it looks like talks of Celtic being interested in him are very real, as the situation is starting to pick up pace.
Unfortunately for Brendan Rodgers' side, it appears that another team are leading the race to sign him. As reported by The Shields Gazette (via Daily Record), Sunderland are currently in pole position to sign Calvert-Lewin but face a challenge with the England international "attracting attention" from Celtic.
Major Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Celtic transfer update drops
At the top of his game, Calvert-Lewin is a Premier League-proven striker and an England international. But there are question marks over whether he is still capable of playing at that level anymore.
He has been dealing with fitness issues for a while and that has had an impact on his game as well. It has been quite some time since we have seen him score goals freely.
So, if Celtic end up making a move for Calvert-Lewin, it would come with a fair share of risk. In many ways, it would be very similar to their move for Kieran Tierney, a fantastic talent who has been dealing with injuries for a long time.
