Celtic have been linked with a lot of players in recent weeks with the winter transfer window in full swing. One of them is Aston Villa youngster Louie Barry. He spent the first half of the campaign out on loan at Stockport County and was a standout performer there, scoring 15 goals in 23 League One appearances.
That form seems to have caught the attention of Celtic. After a flying start to the season, the Hoops seem to have lost a ton of steam and could do with some reinforcements going forward.
Barry is capable of playing on the wing or through the middle as a forward. As a result, someone like him could be a solid addition to this Celtic squad.
There have been rumours of Celtic being willing to offer a £10 million package to sign Barry from Aston Villa. £5 million would be the initial fee with the rest in add-ons and the Hoops might even be willing to include a buyback clause in the deal if speculation is accurate. But does the player himself want to leave the Premier League club?
Louie Barry makes Aston Villa transfer decision amid £10m Celtic links
As reported by Birmingham Live, Aston Villa are bracing themselves for a "seven-figure bid" for Barry from Celtic. The Scottish giants were told the winger is "ready" for a move.
So, it looks like Barry is ready to leave Aston Villa. That will only help Celtic's chances when it comes to the possibility of signing him this month.
Let's see if Celtic do end up making a move to sign Barry before the end of the ongoing transfer window. He clearly has a ton of potential but there is the question mark whether his form will translate when it comes to top level football.
