Niko Sigur has found a new club having been linked with Celtic for months. The Bhoys were linked with the holding midfielder both in the winter window and this summer.
The Canadian international was expected to be on the move this summer, with his now former club Hajduk Split being willing to sell. Celtic were hevaily linked with a move, with a bargain fee below £4million mooted, but they ultimately decided to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joel van den Berg for the similar price of £3.4million.
Toulouse were the other club being heavily linked with Sigur, and the French club have now moved to strike a deal. The French club have posted on social media: “Highly sought after this summer, particularly in Belgium, Spain, Scotland and England, Niko Sigur has chosen Toulouse to continue his career at the highest level.”

The deal is understood to be worth around €4million including add-ons, so it's a very similarly priced deal to that of Van den Berg.
Sigur himself added: “I’m very happy to sign for Toulouse, and I’m already looking forward to meeting the fans. I’m a versatile player; I like to attack and defend and bring all my energy to the team!”
The midfielder would have been a useful signing, able to play throughout the midfield, while he can also slot in at full-back. But ultimately, Celtic have felt they are better served elsewhere, and we can't question that until we know how both him and Van den Berg pan out at their respective new clubs.
It's also not clear that Sigur wanted to join Celtic, especially given he had the possibility of playing in a top five league in Ligue 1.
Van den Berg, meanwhile, is expected to be confirmed by Celtic ahead of tonight's UEFA squad registration deadline, which is at 11pm.
