Celtic have been linked with quite a few Liverpool players in recent years. They even ended up signing one on loan in the form of Nat Phillips. In hindsight, it proved to be a bad move on the part of the Hoops though as the defender was not able to make much of an impact and spent the majority of his time sitting on the bench. On the other hand, the Premier League giants were able to secure the signing of Ben Doak a few years back.

Doak's time at Liverpool has not gone as smoothly as he would have been hoping though. Now, it looks like his future is in doubt and he could be on his way out of the club soon, perhaps even this summer.

Celtic have been linked with plenty of other Liverpool players as well, most notably Caoimhin Kelleher, but it has led to nowhere of note. Could a veteran decide to make the move to Parkhead in the future though?

Andy Robertson grew up a fan of Celtic and was part of the club's youth ranks at one point in time. But the Hoops decided to let him go and the rest is history. Could he consider a return to Parkhead in the twilight of his career?

As reported by the Daily Record, Fernando Morientes said:

"Andy Robertson has spoken about Celtic and it's probably because he's thinking about it. He is 31 and coming towards the end of his career.

"When you've been at a team like Liverpool for a while and you're approaching the end of your career, you always have to take a step back eventually.

"But of course, the team we're talking about is also a powerful team in the Premier League. But I think if he has a special bond with Celtic and the club recognises him as an important player, then it could be possible."

Let's see how things play out for Robertson and Liverpool. He is a club legend. There is no doubt about that. But sooner or later, he might have to take a step down, if he wants to continue playing at a high level.

Celtic could be the perfect 'last club' for him. But do the Hoops even need a left-back, having signed Kieran Tierney in his prime on a pre-contract recently?
