Celtic have been home to some fantastic talents over the years. Many of them have gone on to achieve great things even after leaving the Hoops. A perfect example of that is Virgil van Dijk, who first made a name for himself at Parkhead before going on to reach the highest levels of club football with Liverpool, winning both the Champions League and the Premier League at Anfield.

Now, it has been widely reported in the media that Liverpool are interested in signing another player who first became a household name at Celtic. But they are not the only top Premier League club after his signature.

The player we are talking about is Jeremie Frimpong. So, who are the other team in the race to sign him? Well, it is the club Celtic signed the Dutchman from in the first place, Manchester City.

Frimpong has established himself as one of the most profilic full-backs or wing-backs in Europe since joining Bayer Leverkusen in early 2021. He has been linked with a move away from Germany for some time as well and it might finally materialise this summer considering the growing interest in the Dutch international.

All the interest in Frimpong is great news for Celtic. Why? Because they are believed to hold a significant sell-on clause.

Bayer Leverkusen were believed to have signed Frimpong from Celtic for a fee around £11 million. The Hoops could be set to land a hefty percentage of any transfer profit they make out of an exit though.

Frimpong's time at Celtic was not long but he certainly established himself as a fan favourite quickly. We can only wish him the best moving forward, whether the Dutchman's future lies at Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool, Manchester City or some other top European club.
