The upcoming summer window is going to be an interesting one for Celtic. They are being linked with quite a few names already even though we are months away from the transfer period opening. On the other hand, key players like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Nicolas Kuhn have been linked with moves away from Parkhead as well.
There are other ways in which Celtic could be handed a windfall in the summer as well. And Liverpool might help them in this regard.
One of their former players could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window. And as reported by BILD (via Daily Record), Arne Slot has made a "personal request" for Liverpool to bring in Jeremie Frimpong in the summer.
Frimpong left Celtic in the winter of 2021 to join Bayer Leverkusen. Over his time there, he has developed into one of the most exciting and effective full-backs/wing-backs in the game.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot hands boost to Celtic
Liverpool look set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold in the summer. His current deal is running out and he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for several months now. Los Blancos have a great track record when it comes to convincing world-class players to join them as free agents.
Of course, if Trent does end up leaving Liverpool, they would need to bring in a replacement for him. That is where Frimpong comes in. He has elite output going forward as well and would do a good job in a similar role at Anfield.
This would mean good news for Celtic as well. They are believed to hold a significant sell-on clause when it comes to Frimpong. The release clause in his Bayer Leverkusen contract is believed to be in the region of €40 million, which would represent a great windfall for the Hoops.
