Everton finally seem to be moving in the right direction since the appointment of David Moyes as manager. Of course, the former Celtic player has already had a stellar spell coaching the Merseyside and has made a decent start to his second run as well. That being said, if the club want to continue improving, they will have to make some additions this summer.

Everton have been linked with a few Celtic players over the past few months. Both Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn are believed to be on their radar but that is not all.

One of the players that Everton have been linked with recently is Matt O'Riley. The Celtic hero, whose debut campaign with Brighton & Hove Albion was shaky at best, could already be looking to leave the Seagulls.

Celtic are believed to hold a sell-on clause for O'Riley. So, any summer move could mean a windfall for the Scottish champions, just like Jeremie Frimpong's move to Liverpool. Unfortunately, in this case, it looks like a move to Everton is not on the cards.

Latest Everton transfer news will interest Celtic

As reported by Everton news, Alan Myers said while speaking to the All Together Now podcast:

"My understanding is that it’s not going to happen.

“I don’t even know whether there is interest there, that’s what I’m told."

So, it looks like O'Riley is not headed to Everton. In fact, there is no certainty about the Merseyside club's interest in the Danish midfielder.

It is worth mentioning though that Everton are not the only club to be linked with O'Riley in recent times. There is believed to be interest from Italy once again. Before his move to Brighton & Hove Albion from Celtic, the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan were believed to be eyeing the midfielder, while Atalanta made multiple failed bids to sign him. In this summer transfer window, AS Roma might have him on their radar.
