Kieran Tierney has been linked with a return to Celtic for many years now. The Scottish left-back left Parkhead to join Arsenal in a £25 million move back in the summer of 2019. It started well for him too. In his first few years there, he was one of their best players and considered by many as a future captain of the North London club while also being linked with teams like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

Unfortunately, Tierney has struggled with injury problems constantly. That, combined with the arrival of new players in his position, means that he finds himself far down the pecking order at Arsenal right now.

Tierney spent last season out on loan at Real Sociedad last season. He was expected to leave this summer as well, either permanently or on a temporary basis, but those plans were derailed after he suffered an injury at EURO 2024 while representing Scotland.

Tierney is now closing in on a return to fitness. And there is already talk about him leaving Arsenal in the January transfer window. Unsurprisingly, there are rumours of a Celtic return once again and this time around, it could actually happen.

Kieran Tierney reportedly ready to make Celtic return

As reported by TBR Football, Tierney is ready to move back to Celtic. He has made a return to Glasgow his priority. Arsenal are ready to let the Scot leave on loan and that is something that would interest the Hoops. In the long term, the English club would be open to a deal that would make it possible for the Scottish side to complete a permanent move.

If Tierney were to return, he would most probably be Celtic's best player in terms of ability. The question marks are regarding his fitness though.

Celtic would need to find ways to keep him fit throughout the season because that is something Tierney has struggled with for years now. Also, one has to wonder what such a move would mean for Greg Taylor as well as Alex Valle in the long run.
