Celtic were busy during the summer transfer window and recruited well. It is quite clear that they will be happy with how their squad is looking right now. But at Parkhead, the aim is to improve constantly. If they cannot sign players capable of getting into the starting XI from the get-go, they will definitely target those who can do so in the long run.
One of the fastest-rising talents in Scottish football right now is Lennon Miller. The Motherwell midfielder is not only a regular starter at 18, but he has also captained the team on a few occasions.
That just goes on to show how highly he is rated by the club. And it would be a surprise if he does not end up on a more high-profile team soon.
Both Celtic and the Rangers have been linked with Miller. There is bound to be interest from down south as well, and most probably from other leagues across Europe too. So, who will come out on top in the race for the highly-rated Motherwell midfielder?
Journalist tips Celtic to complete signing in January
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Mark Guidi said while speaking on The Go Radio Football Show:
"If they’ve got a concrete guaranteed £3 million-£3.5 million with the potential for a couple of million in add-ons here and there, Motherwell have got to take that. They’ve got to; Celtic can afford that kind of fee all day long. For me, longer-term, getting someone like Lennon Miller the way he looks just now, I think £3 million to £3.5 million with add-ons would be a bargain.
“Right now if you’re asking me, I said it on Thursday night, he’s going to have four or five really good options in January, I think he’ll end up at Celtic."
If Miller does end up staying in Scotland, Celtic would be his most likely destination. Do not rule out the possibility of the Hoops signing him in January but then sending him back on loan to Motherwell for the rest of the season immediately. That could work out in favour of all three parties involved.
Of course, it is also possible that Miller could decide to leave Scotland altogether. Plenty of highly-rated Scottish talents have taken that step in recent years and it has worked out fine in a number of cases. And someone of his talent might be willing to back himself.
