Celtic got themselves a pretty good result away in Italy, as they managed to draw 0-0 against Atalanta. Gian Piero Gasperini's side have been one of the best in Serie A for years now and are the Europa League holders currently. So, getting a point in their own backyard deserves credit for sure, especially after losing 7-1 at the hands of Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park in their last outing in the competition.

Celtic have now bounced back from that result in Germany and can look forward. The feeling of positivity around Parkhead certainly appears to be back.

One of the most important aspects of the game between Celtic and Atalanta was the fact that Brendan Rodgers' side changed their approach drastically from the one they showed against Borussia Dortmund. This was a defensive display.

Rodgers had maintained leading up to the match that he would not move away from his philosophy. But when the time came, he showed the pragmatic side to his game. Perhaps that helped in catching Atalanta by surprise.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Guillem Balague said on Match of the Day:

"Especially now that Brendan has changed his way in Europe a little bit, that’s why you should never hear the managers after the game or not trust them that they are telling the truth.

“Brendan after the defeat to Borussia Dortmund said ‘how do you want us to play in Europe?’ Saying defending is a style of being cavalier. That didn’t happen, did it?

“A team that is the highest goalscorers in Italy. A great defensive performance. If he balances that a little bit, then they can get the points."

This was pretty much as good a result as Celtic could have hoped for. It proved that they could defend against even top teams in Europe and should have given their struggling backline, in the absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers, a bit of a confidence boost.

Being able to play mind games is certainly a positive attribute to have if you are a manager. Rodgers did that quite well on this occasion. Now, oppositions know that Celtic can play both styles of football and this is no longer a team that will always play on the front foot, no matter what the situation.
