Celtic have been linked with a move for Kieran Tierney in recent weeks. The Scottish left-back is set to be without a club in the summer after Arsenal passed on the option to extend his contract by another year. And Parkhead is starting to feel like his most likely destination if or when he departs London.

Tierney is not the only one to be linked with a Celtic return lately though. It looks like Jota is another player who could be on the move soon.

It was just this summer that Jota joined Rennes after a terrible spell at Al-Ittihad but things have gone south for him in France as well. The club recently appointed Jorge Sampaoli as their new manager and following the change in management, the Portuguese winger has been struggling for minutes.

He has made cameos off the bench in three of Rennes' last four Ligue 1 games. And in the remaining one, he was left as an unused substitute.

Sampaoli has now given his take on Jota and it does not make for good reading if you are a fan of the Portuguese winger. As reported by the Daily Record, the Rennes manager said:

"We hope he can bring us some balance, but he is not yet in full possession of his resources.

"I need players who can make a continuous effort, both offensively and defensively, but players who can make a difference like him in one-on-one situations are very important for us. We need him be fit, we need them to understand our model so he can make the difference."

Reports in France have also suggested that Rennes are ready to part ways with Jota in January, despite the fact that he arrived in the summer. And the timing could make sense for Celtic.

Celtic are expected to be on the lookout for a winger this winter with Luis Palma's future at Parkhead in doubt. So, why not sign someone proven like Jota if the opportunity is out there? We already know what he brings to the table and the Portuguese winger might be ready to comeback as well after his failures since leaving.
