With the summer transfer window right around the corner, there are plenty being linked with moves away from Parkhead. Last summer, Italian giants Atalanta were heavily interested in signing Matt O'Riley. In fact, it is believed that they made multiple offers for the Danish international but were not able to get a deal done. This time around, it looks like another Celtic player is on the Serie A team's radar.
Of course, Celtic fans want to see the club keep their core together. That being said, they will know very well that if the right offer comes in, the Hoops will consider it, as they have done with so many others in the past.
It was just last summer that Celtic signed Arne Engels and his debut campaign in Glasgow has been hot and cold. That has not stopped Atalanta from making their move though.
Could the Belgian be on his way to Atalanta this summer? As reported by Sport Italia, concrete attempts have already been made for Engels.
Italian giants make move for Celtic player out of nowhere
Celtic paid a club-record transfer fee to sign Engels last summer. So, one would imagine that the Hoops would want a significant offer to even consider parting ways with him.
Will Atalanta be the ones to make such an offer? It is worth mentioning that the Italian club were not able to convince Celtic with their offers for O'Riley last summer before he ended up joining Brighton & Hove Albion later on in the window.
Engels is a very good talent for sure. But we have not seen his best in a Celtic jersey so far. So, if an undeniable offer did come in for him this summer, parting ways should certainly be entertained. Let's see what happens in the upcoming window.
