If Celtic had done their job during the summer transfer window, the title race might have been as good as over in August itself. That is how bad the Rangers have been in the opening weeks of the season. Russell Martin's side are without a win in the Scottish Premiership after the first four games. Not even their most pessimistic of fans would have predicted that.

Despite that, it feels like there is a way back for the Rangers in this title race. And that is because of the transfer window that Celtic had, which might very well have been the worst one in the club's history.

Key players were allowed to leave and then not replaced. It has also led to question marks about Brendan Rodgers' future at the club.

Nobody would have expected this kind of a transfer window from Celtic, especially since we know that Rodgers' contract is running out. And at this point in time, it is hard to imagine that there is any way that the manager is going to be extending his deal with the Hoops. In fact, Kris Boyd has questioned about whether his run at Parkhead could be over before his deal runs out.

'It’s OVER' - Kris Boyd makes bold claim about Celtic

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Boyd said the ‘Go Ballistic’ programme:

"I think Rodgers will be in charge for the weekend and his press conference this week will be interesting.

"But there is no doubt that it’s finished — it’s OVER with Brendan Rodgers and Celtic.

“A couple of weeks ago you felt there was maybe a contract on the table. That won’t be there now.

“There is clearly a disagreement between Rodgers and the hierarchy, whoever that may be.

“I can’t see him being there beyond the summer.

“Whether he gets to the summer, that’s a different question. I am not sure he will."

Of course, Celtic fans do not agree with Boyd often. That being said, there is definitely a doubt about whether Rodgers will be able to see out this season for Celtic. Or to be correct, does he even want to after the summer transfer window that the club had? We are not sure either.

Let's see what the future holds for Celtic, Rodgers and the fans. The last thing that we need right now is for the manager to head for the exit door.
