Celtic are still said to be owed money for the transfer of Alexandro Bernabei back in January of 2025.

Bernabei struggled to make an impact after arriving in 2022, going on to make 23 league appearances. The left-back went on to join Brazilian side Internacional in 2024 in a bid to get his career back on track, and it worked.

He made 23 league appearances and dazzled, even scoring three times from left-back. A permanent move followed, with Bernabei going on to join Internacional on a £4.5million deal.

But according to reports in Brazil, Internacional now face a potential transfer embargo due to not yet paying the due instalments for the signing of the Argentinian.

Brazilian journalist Alexandre Ernst has said: "Inter is expected to face a transfer ban involving the payment for Bernabei to Celtic.

“The instalments for the Argentine are not being paid, and the full-back is one of the players the club believes will receive a notification from football’s governing body.”

When Bernabei left the club, he said: “I am proud to have been the first Argentine to join this beautiful club. It was a pleasure to be part of this I will always carry Celtic in my heart. Thanks for everything."

He added on his move: “First of all, thank you all very much. I am very happy to be back home. It was a bit of a strange experience because I didn’t know what fate had in store for me. The support I received from the good group that exists as a family, the coaching staff, the leaders…”
