It would be safe to say that Celtic's focus right now has to be on the season at hand. They are not in a great spot by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, it is a salvageable situation. So, let's wait and watch how things will play out for the Hoops over the next few days of the transfer window and then the remainder of the campaign under the watch of Martin O'Neill.

O'Neill has done a brilliant job with the options that he has at this moment. Of course, there is a need to strengthen. But one worry for the club in that respect might be the fact that he will be gone in the summer, and a new manager will arrive, with potentially very different ideas.

Even if a new manager does arrive, it might be a familiar face to Celtic fans. Yes, that is because the Hoops are being linked with a sensational reunion with none other than Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou was linked with a Celtic return this season as well. But back then, it was suggested that he would like to spend some time out from the game. He remains without a job still, and the summer could be the perfect time to bring him back.

'He will be interested' - Ange Postecoglou to Celtic summer return claim

As reported by Football Insider, Postecoglou is emerging as the front-runner for a return to Celtic when O’Neill departs in the summer. Mick Brown said:

"Postecoglou returning to Celtic is certainly a possibility.

“It’s something he will be interested in after his struggles in the Premier League, he can go back to a place where he is still very highly thought of and has had success before."

Celtic might be the perfect place for Postecoglou to rebuild his reputation after his horror spell at Nottingham Forest, which lasted just 39 days. On the other hand, the Australian is perfect for the Hoops, which he showed during his first spell, winning five trophies in two seasons.

The biggest difference might have been the recruitment at the time. It was efficient and on the mark, almost unbelievable when you consider how things have been since his departure.

Postecoglou does have the ability to find quality players in the budget range that Celtic are comfortable working with. So, the club should do everything in their power to bring him back.
