Wilfried Nancy has faced his fair share of criticism for how poorly the side have done since he took over from Martin O'Neill, who had guided them to victory in seven of his eight games in charge as interim manager. And if things don't improve soon, the Frenchman might have to start packing his bags as well.

That being said, one cannot ignore the fact that he has not been given the best set of players. Firstly, the squad is not built for the system that he wants his teams to play. Secondly, it does not seem like Nancy is willing to change his ways and adjust to what is available to him.

That is not the ideal situation to be in for anybody. And yet, it looks like the board decided that it was the perfect time for this experiment, leading up to the Scottish League Cup final. Things have gone as many had feared.

One of Celtic's weaker performers in recent times has been their most experienced one as well. Kasper Schmeichel had made an error in the previous Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen. And he did not cover himself in glory against St Mirren either, leaving the fans unhappy.

As one Celtic fan wrote: "Get Schmeichel gone he’s finished."

There were also those who called for Viljami Sinisalo to be played ahead of Schmeichel. At the end of the day, he has looked a lot more impressive than his more experienced teammate, when given the chance to play.

So, if you are picking the team on merit, it might be time to start giving serious thought to playing Sinisalo ahead of Schmeichel. Now, it remains to be seen whether Nancy decides to do that or not.
