Celtic's search for a striker seems to have come to an end, finally. Of course, there is the possibility that they could look for another one. But for now, it is a relief that they have at least strengthened in that position for the rest of this season. A deal has been agreed with Borussia Monchengladbach for Tomas Cvancara. Personal terms had already been reached.
That has to be music to the ears of the supporters, even though most would not have even heard of Cvancara until yesterday. And while the move has not been made official yet, that is only believed to be a matter of time.
Reports have suggested that he was scheduled undergo his medical at Celtic today. That announcement is expected to come on Thursday. Hopefully, things go according to plan and he is available to start against Hearts at the weekend. The Hoops could do with the help.
It is worth mentioning that Cvancara is arriving on a loan deal. But there is going to be an option to buy included in it. How much is that figure? We can finally shed some light on that.
German outlet confirms Celtic's buyout clause for Tomas Cvancara
As reported by German outlet Kicker, Celtic are initially loaning the striker until the end of the season. They have also secured an option to buy in the region of €8 million.
That is a good decision on the part of Celtic for sure. In the past, we have seen them bring in players on loan without an option and then have to overpay for them the follow summer, when the player ends up doing well.
One example that comes to mind immediately is that of Adam Idah. Thankfully, there won't be a repeat of that saga this time around.
