Celtic need a striker right now. There is no doubt about that. Brendan Rodgers has openly spoken about how Adam Idah was doing better when he was competing with Kyogo. And to be very honest, the Irish international is struggling right now. He has gotten plenty of chances to establish himself as the Hoops' first-choice number 9. But for one reason or another, he just fails to make an impact on games far too often to lead the line for the Scottish champions.

That being said, perhaps it is understandable why Celtic might be reluctant to go out and spend big on another striker. It was just last summer that they shelled out a £9.5 million transfer package to bring in Idah from Norwich City.

On the other hand, one cannot overlook the Daizen Maeda factor either. It is very possible that the could be back in that striker role, if Celtic are able to bring in some quality winger this summer.

One player Celtic were being linked with recently is Giuseppe Ambrosino. But now, reports coming out of Italy are suggesting that he is ready to stay at Napoli and compete for his place in Antonio Conte's team. So, it is time for the Hoops to shift focus.

Jamie Vardy is someone who is available as a free agent right now. And we have seen Celtic go out and bring in Premier League veterans in recent years. One of them is his former Leicester City teammate Kasper Schmeichel.

Would someone like Vardy work for Celtic at this point in his career? Nigel Martyn appears to believe so. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

"He can start games one week and play up to 60 minutes, and the next week he could come off the bench and make an impact.

"As a centre-half, the last thing you want to see after playing 70 minutes is somebody like Jamie Vardy and his pace come on to the pitch."

To be very honest, this feels like the type of move that Celtic could end up making this summer. Vardy is a big name and Rodgers knows him well. He is also available as a free agent.
