Former Celtic star Arne Engels is another exitee who has found himself losing a manager within months of joining his new club. Only recently, Reo Hatate saw manager Nicky Hayen sacked just a couple of months into the new season following his £6.5million exit from Celtic.

And now Engels has seen the same trend play out, with West Ham deciding to sack Nuno Espirito Santo after a far less concerning start to the campaign, compared to Burnley.

The Hammers were expecting to dominate the Championship this season after coming down with a strong squad, keeping many of their top players and also strengthening with signings like Engels.

But as things stand, they are having to settle for the final playoff spot in eighth, albeit they are only six points off top club Middlesbrough, and anyone who knows the Championship knows how quickly things can change, especially at this early stage.

Still, Santo has been sacked due to the poor start having taken the job from Graham Potter back in January, and his backroom staff have left with him.

The Hammers had already lined up a replacement, with serial promotion winner Scott Parker taking the role, and he could be in charge for Wednesday night's clash with Cardiff City.

It's less than ideal for Engels, who became the EFL's most expensive signing ever when he joined the Iron for around £22million, but Parker has a clear record of winning promotions, both at Fulham and Burnley, and so he may give Engels a good chance of realising his Premier League dream.

The midfielder has already racked up 12 league appearances for West Ham, quickly establishing himself as a starter for the East London side. Now playing under a more ball-playing and expansive coach like Parker, that is unlikely to change.

Engels is the exact sort of midfielder Parker is going to want in his midfield, being a player who dominate the middle of the park, and with the ball at his feet.
