Celtic could do with a third striker. They have Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah, both of whom are capable of starting on any given day. But an injury to either one would leave the Hoops short of options up top. As a result, it would be a smart move for them to bring in a cover option in the near future.

Of course, signing someone is a possibility. At the same time, there are those who would like to see Daniel Cummings get a chance after his impressive displays at the youth and developmental levels this season.

Another Celtic striker who has been finding the back of the net consistently is Johnny Kenny. He has been a standout performer on loan at Shamrock Rovers.

Kenny has spent time on loan at Shamrock Rovers since early 2023. He has scored 26 goals over the course of that time. His recent form in the Conference League has been particularly impressive with him scoring five times in as many games. Now, a return to Celtic awaits.

In-form striker admits dream to play for Celtic

Kenny appears to dream of playing for Celtic and will make a return to Parkhead this January. After that, it would be down to him to make a positive impression on Brendan Rodgers and win a place in the team.

As reported by the Daily Record, Kenny said ahead of his return to Celtic after a successful loan spell at Shamrock Rovers:

"I spoke to Celtic. I’m returning to pre-season on January 3 and we’ll see where that takes us. It’s my dream to play for Celtic and hopefully I get that in January, time will tell. One hundred per cent, yeah. The goals in Europe are probably worth two or three in the league. I haven’t done myself any harm but it’s over now (after Chelsea) and come January 3, I need to impress at Celtic.

“It’s my dream to play for Celtic but I’ll take it from there. I have really enjoyed my football here (at Rovers), even last year when things weren’t going well.

“I’ll just enjoy the glamour tie next week and Christmas with my family and see what January brings. It’s up to me when I go back to take it a step further and hopefully get my chance."

Someone like Kenny could be a decent addition to this Celtic team. He might not be a high-profile addition, that many fans want to see being made every transfer window, but he is someone who could be an effective option to have on the bench behind Kyogo and Idah. And who knows, perhaps he could end up developing and growing into a bigger role in the future.
