Celtic have made a lot of 'project' signings in recent years. Some have worked out, others have not. The likes of Matt O'Riley, Jota, Nicolas Kuhn and more have made significant contributions to the club on the pitch. But then, there have been those who have struggled to find their feet at Parkhead despite coming in with a lot of expectations surrounding them.
Odin Thiago Holm is a name that falls under that category. When he arrived in the summer of 2023, he was hailed as the 'next Martin Odegaard' by many in his homeland.
Holm made a few appearances for Celtic early on but as the season progressed, he lost his place in the team. Many believe that he slipped down Brendan Rodgers' pecking order when he picked up a red card against Feyenoord in the Champions League after coming on as a substitute.
Holm also appeared as a substitute in the first three Premiership games this season. But after that, he did not make a single appearance and was sent out on loan to LAFC in January.
Forgotten Celtic player makes first appearance after seven months
It was last night that Holm made his debut for LAFC. He came on as a late substitute in their MLS game against Kansas City.
Of course, it is worth pointing out that Holm is believed to have been dealing with some fitness issues as well, which is a major reason behind why he has played so little football this season. This was his first appearance after almost seven months without having featured in a game.
One can only hope that he gets some regular playing time moving forward. The talent has never been in question when it comes to Holm. He just needs to find a way to put it altogether on the pitch.
