The kind of fan movement that we have seen over the past few weeks is unprecedented on the back of another failed Champions League qualification campaign and an all-time worst summer transfer window, which did nothing but weaken a squad that was already struggling last season. The record revenue and profit numbers they have posted since then won't help matters either as it will only raise further questions about the lack of ambition shown.

It would be safe to say that most Celtic fans want to see change brought about at the board level and in the football structure of the club as well, to keep up with the demands of the modern game. That means saying goodbye to a number of familiar faces.

Will such a change take place after all? Or will this turn out to be another fan movement that ultimately leads nowhere of note and the club continues to run as it has for the past several years?

It does look like it is having an effect though. That has been clear from the statement that the club released in answer to the letter from the fan clubs and media. It failed to meet expectations though. Once again, the transfer situation was addressed when the financial results were announcement recently.

Now, Hugh Keevins has written in the Daily Record that the board seriously dislike long, lingering camera shots of the directors’ box during TV coverage of matches. But the cameras will again be trained on the board at Firhill.

Celtic have an important run of games coming up. They will take on Partick Thistle in the Scottish League Cup, followed by Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League and Hibernian in the Premiership.

One can only hope that Celtic are able to win all three of those games. That would certainly lift the mood of the fans.
