Mohamed Salah has proven himself as one of the best players in Premier League history and is closing in on his second title with Liverpool. But beyond that, there are doubts about his future at Anfield. There is an update on that situation, though. One that will interest Celtic supporters as well, heading into the summer transfer window.

Of course, there is very little chance that Salah will ever don the green-and-white shirt of Celtic. But his situation could end up having implications for the future of one of the Hoops' former players.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Salah is closing in on a new deal at Liverpool as an agreement is now close. The club is confident to get it done soon. It is the same for Virgil van Dijk, who recently confirmed positive progress had been made.

So, why is this news meaning for Celtic? Well, Ben Doak is currently at Liverpool and has struggled to break into the first-team picture there. He has been linked with a move away for a while now, with Everton believed to be interested. If Salah does end up extending, it will only increase the Scottish winger's chances of leaving.

Doak is a fantastic talent without a doubt. But there is little to no chance that he will ever move ahead of Salah in the pecking order at Liverpool.

So, this summer looks like a good chance to make a change for Doak. It will be interesting to see where he ends up from here.

It only took a fee in the region of £600,000 to sign him from Celtic a few years back. But it is safe to assume that Liverpool will want a figure north of £20 million for his exit.
