Celtic's summer transfer window as one to forget to say the very least. And it left them in a position where they needed to depend on the free agent market to fill the gaps in their squad. They have already dipped into it once, bringing in Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal after he was released by Sevilla on deadline day.

Ultimately, one winger was signed on deadline day, with Sebastian Tounekti being brought in from Hammarby in a £5.2 million move. And, of course, Iheanacho was brought in the following day. Could the Hoops now look to sign another free agent? Fabrizio Romano has given his take on the matter.

"Could be, but at the moment nothing close or decided yet."
Well, it is safe to say that nothing seems to be close at the moment. And to be honest, one should not expect it to be. The rush is now over and Celtic can allow themselves to relax a bit and see where this squad is, before making any further additions.
Truth be told, there are very few can't-miss prospects on the free agent market from a Celtic perspective. If someone was brought in, it would be to fill the gaps in the squad rather than to be a starter.
