When Fabrizio Romano starts reporting on a deal, it can be considered as good as done. For weeks now, Celtic have been searching for their next manager. Brendan Rodgers quit the club in the middle of the season again, despite insisting that he was going to see out his three-year contract. This time around, he chose to resign instead of leaving for another team. But considering Dermot Desmond's statement in the aftermath, perhaps the situation had become unsustainable.

Martin O'Neill and Shaun Maloney have steadied the ship after being put in interim charge. Now, it will be up to the next permanent manager to carry and build upon that newfound momentum.

The timing remains unclear. But it is believed that the appointment will be made official by next week, and the Dundee game could be the first one in charge for the next manager. Of course, pretty much everybody knows who that is set to be.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Wilfried Nancy is on the verge of becoming the new Celtic manager as a deal is almost agreed. The final details are to be sorted, and then the contract will be sealed.

Nancy has found a lot of success in the MLS but managing in Europe, especially at a club like Celtic, will be a different ball game. Many fans are unconvinced about the move. Now, it is up to the Frenchman to prove the doubters wrong.

He has drawn comparisons with Ange Postecoglou in recent days, for both his journey and the style of football his teams like to play. Now, it remains to be seen if he is as good as the Australian when it comes to dealing with pressure and delivering silverware. That is upon which every Celtic manager is measured at the end of the day.

Also, this is going to be the end of Martin O'Neill's spell as a manager. We had never expected to see him back in a Celtic dugout. And it was a pleasure to have him back.
