It would be an understatement to say that Celtic need to do a lot of work in the remaining two weeks of the January transfer window. The club simply have not been good enough with their recruitment over the past several years, and somehow, the situation seems to be getting worse. As things stand, it feels like they have lost their ability to complete deals, as most of them seem to fall apart after rumours of talks and negotiations.
Celtic's most urgent area of need is signing a striker. And it looks like they are trying hard for one, as several have been linked with them over the past week or so, although nothing substantial has materialised since then.
One such striker is David Datro Fofana. The club had tried to sign him in the summer itself, but it is believed that he turned out that move, and eventually ended up on loan in Turkey.
Yet, he is back on their radar this winter. And there is some good news in Celtic's quest to bring Fofana to Parkhead this month, as confirmed by the most reliable journalist in the game.
Fabrizio Romano confirms great news for Celtic's striker transfer
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have recalled Fofana from loan as he’s set for a new move in the upcoming days or weeks. The club and the player’s camp are working on a permanent exit.
Fofana had been on loan at Fatih Karagumruk. There, he managed a solid eight goals in 15 games for the Turkish side across all competitions.
But he is not set to continue there. One would imagine that Celtic are one of the frontrunners to sign him. That being said, we have seen too many moves fall through in recent times to be confident about anything until it becomes official.
