Over the past few weeks, we have seen Celtic being linked with a long list of clubs while they have been working on completing a few deals as well. The Hoops have made some tremendous progress this summer, already bringing in Kieran Tierney, Ross Doohan and Isaac English while deals for Benjamin Nygren and Callum Osmand are believed to have agreed as well.
Of course, Celtic are not the only club who have been busy this summer. Tottenham Hotspur have already completed a change in managers and now, they are making signing as well.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have agreed a £5m deal with Kawasaki Frontale to sign Kota Takai. This is the record fee ever received for a Japanese player from the J League.
Celtic have been linked with a couple of J League players recently. Considering their record of recruiting from the Japanese top flight, fans are happy to see that happen. But Tottenham Hotspur's move could impact one of those moves.
Fabrizio Romano confirms £5m deal that could impact Celtic
With a £5m fee coming in, Kawasaki Frontale are now in a strong negotiation position when it comes to Shin Yamada, their striker Celtic have been linked with. It might be more difficult to convince the Japanese club to part ways with him this summer, which is the middle of the season for them, as they are already saying goodbye to Takai.
And even if they do, they might end up looking for a bit of a premium transfer fee for Yamada. Let's see what the future holds.
Of course, Takai is someone we at The Celtic Bhoys had suggested as a potential signing for the club back in May. Unfortunately, Tottenham Hotspur have swooped in and signed arguably the most exciting prospect in Japanese football today.
