Celtic are in trouble. That is no longer a secret, especially after their weekend defeat at the hands of Hearts away at Tynecastle Park, which has left them trailing Derek McInnes' side by a considerable eight points. For context, despite the historic mistake that was the Russell Martin era, the Rangers trail the Parkhead club by five points.

In simpler terms, Celtic are closer to arguably the Rangers' worst team ever than to the top of the league table right now. In fact, the issues at Ibrox is one of the reasons why many did not notice how bad the start to this campaign has been for the Hoops.

It has been worse than the 20/21 campaign. Naturally, questions have been raised about the future of Brendan Rodgers as the manager of the club.

Celtic sacking Rodgers would be considered impossible at the start of the season. But then, so would have been Hearts leading them by eight points going into November. Yet, here we are. Anything can happen.

For now, it looks like Celtic are not close to making that decision regarding Rodgers. That being said, that does not mean that it can be ruled out completely. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Fabrizio Romano has said about the situation:

"There are no indications at this stage. For sure, it's a situation to follow, but there has been no final decision on this at this stage."

There is a growing feeling amongst a large section of the fanbase that Rodgers is not getting the best out of this team. Yes, it was a terrible summer transfer window, which was down to the board. That being said, does the Northern Irishman not have enough available at Parkhead to even compete with Hearts?

One could also argue that Rodgers has never gotten the best out of Celtic in his second spell at Parkhead. Many might have forgotten, because it ended well, but for a long time, it had looked like they would struggle to win a trophy in the 23/24 campaign as well. Fortunately, they were able to turn it around late and finish with a double.

On the other hand, it was the opposite last season. Celtic looked phenomenal in the first few months of the campaign but faded away completely in the second half of the season. Fortunately, they had done enough early to finish it with another double.
