The striker situation at Celtic right now is something that has left the fans worried. Kyogo Furuhashi left the club after three-and-a-half years of being the first-choice number 9 to join Rennes. Confusingly, the Hoops did not even bring in a replacement for him, not even one on loan. That means that Adam Idah, who was on a 14-game goalless run before ending it against Aston Villa, is now the undisputed starter out of nowhere.

The decision to not sign another striker might have a positive impact on some though. Johnny Kenny is someone who might end up benefiting a lot.

Kenny did a fantastic job while on loan at Shamrock Rovers. Now, he might be the backup striker at Celtic and one would think that he will get a decent amount of opportunities over the coming months when Idah needs a rest or is brought off late in games.

There was speculation that Shamrock Rovers wanted him back on loan for a third spell. And considering they have waited until now to officially announce Kenny's exit does suggest that that was indeed the case.

Shamrock Rovers put up a heartfelt goodbye message to Kenny. He was their 2023 and 2024 Young Player of the Year, and certainly made his presence felt while at the club.

Now, it is time for Kenny to take up the next step though. This is a huge opportunity for him to advance in his career.

If Kenny does end up getting some playing chances, which he should considering the lack of depth at Celtic right now, he should have plenty of opportunities to score as well. That is just a matter of Celtic's dominance when it comes to most games in Scotland. If he can take them, the sky is the limit.
